How to clean carpets

Here are some ways to clean carpet:
  • Vacuum
Vacuuming removes dirt and grime from carpet fibers, and is best done daily or every other day. Make sure your vacuum is well-maintained and clean so it works properly.
  • Pretreat stains
Before deep cleaning, use a carpet cleaning solution, stain remover, or shaving cream to pretreat stains.
  • Spot clean
For wet stains, blot with a rag or paper towel dampened with warm water and a little dish soap. Blot dry with a clean, dry rag or paper towel, and let the area air dry completely.
  • Deep clean
You can try steam cleaning to remove dirt, mud, debris, allergens, and dust particles from deep within the carpet pile. You can also hire a professional to shampoo your carpet every three months to disinfect the fibers and remove dust and debris.
  • Use baking soda
Baking soda can clean, kill bacteria, freshen the pile, and remove odors. Sprinkle enough baking soda to cover the carpet, then brush it in using a stiff brush in different directions.
  • Use club soda
Club soda’s carbonation can help lift stains and worn or matted fibers from deep within the carpet fibers. You can then blot or vacuum away the debris.
